July 22, 2018

The ALB launched to the report of a capsized sailing dingy, with 2 people in the water, off Pembroke Dock. Also tasked to this incident was the water ranger. The lifeboat arrived on scene to find the water ranger alongside the now righted dingy in the process of bailing the water out. The lifeboat remained on scene until the craft was made safe. The lifeboat returned to station whilst the dingy and casualties were escorted to safety by the water ranger.

July 11, 2018

The ALB launched to search for a kayaker who required assistance and unsure of his position in the vicinity of Skomer Island. Also tasked to this incident was Little Haven ILB. The lifeboat arrived on scene to find a passing vessel assisting the kayaker, who by now was in the tidal race, just off the Mew Stone on the south side of the Island. The kayaker was part of a group of 7 kayakers of which all were exhausted due to the unexpected tidal flow around the Island. It was decided to take all 7 kayakers on board and to take them to the safety of Martins Haven where they were met by members of Dale Coastguard. The lifeboat returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist an 11 metre motor yacht, with 2 people on board, that had engine failure and unable to sail due to the conditions in a position approximately 1 mile west of Skokholm Island. Once on scene, a tow was rigged and the casualty was taken towards Milford Haven where they were berthed alongside the Mackerel Stage. With all safe, the lifeboat was released and returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 7 metre motor boat that had engine failure off Newton Noyes. The vessel, with 1 person on board, was on passage from Neyland to Dale when the engine overheated. The lifeboat arrived on scene and after confirming all was ok on board, a tow was rigged and the vessel was towed toward Neyland. The vessel was secured onto the holding berth at Neyland Marina. The lifeboat was released and returned to station.

The ALB launch to assist a 20ft motor boat that had run aground off Pennar Point. The lifeboat arrived on scene to find the open motor boat, with 2 people on board, aground in the mud. The Y Boat was launched and went to assist with the re-floating as the tide was now on the flood. Once re-floated, the skipper of the casualty vessel checked for damage, and when satisfied that all was ok, the Y Boat was recovered and the lifeboat returned to station.

The ALB launched following multiple reports of flare sightings in the Pembroke Dock area. Whilst making best speed to the area, the Water Ranger had information stating that the flares had been fired by youths ashore. The lifeboat arrived on scene, along with a pilot vessel and St Govan’s CRT and conducted a search from Pembroke Dock to Neyland. With nothing found, all units were stood down and the lifeboat returned to station.

May 18, 2018

The ALB launched to assist Dyfed Powys Police in the search for a possible despondent female thought to be in the Monk Haven area. The lifeboat arrived on scene and deployed the Y Boat. The Y Boat conducted a close in shore line search with the lifeboat and Police vessel searching further off shore. A thorough search of the area was undertaken with no sightings. As there was no further information or reported missing persons, the Y Boat was recovered and the lifeboat was released and returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 14 metre yacht, with 2 people on board, that had run aground off Wear Spit. The lifeboat arrived on scene and, whilst preparing the deck for a tow, the yacht engaged their engine and re-floated under their own power. With the yacht in safe water it was decided to escort to Neyland where they could berth alongside a pontoon. Whilst approaching the entrance to Neyland Marina, the yacht ran aground a further 3 times whilst attempting to navigate the channel. Once the yacht was safe alongside, the lifeboat was released and returned to station.

The ALB launched following a “pan-pan” broadcast from a 5.5 metre RIB, with 2 people on board, that had broken down and dragging their anchor off Dale Fort. The lifeboat launched and located the casualty in Dale Bay. Their anchor was recovered, a tow was rigged and the casualty was towed into Dale where they were taken ashore. With the casualty safe ashore, the lifeboat was released and returned to station

The ALB launched to evacuate an injured fisherman from a 26 metre fishing vessel, approximately 3 miles south of St Ann’s Head. The lifeboat rendezvoused with the fishing vessel at the entrance to the Haven and it was decided to complete the transfer in West Angle Bay as the land provided a lee. Once transferred, the casualty was taken to the MHPA jetty and handed over to waiting ambulance personnel. With no more assistance required, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 16ft fishing vessel that had engine failure off Thorn Island. The vessel, with 3 people on board, was unable to engage the engine into gear. The lifeboat arrived on scene, a tow was rigged and the vessel was taken to Milford where it was secured alongside the mackerel Stage pontoon. With no more assistance required, the lifeboat returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 6.2 metre leisure fishing boat that had a fouled propeller off St Ann’s Head. The casualty, with 3 people on board were being assisted by a passing vessel until the arrival of the lifeboat. The lifeboat arrived on scene and the tow was taken and a course was set for Neyland. At Neyland, the casualty was placed on the holding pontoon as arrangements were made for the craft to be lifted out. Once secure, the lifeboat was released and returned to station.

The ALB launched to the report of an inflatable kayak, with two people on board, in difficulties between Wier Spit and Pennar Point. The lifeboat arrived on scene to find the persons had made it ashore at Pennar Gut and required no assistance. With this, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

The ALB launched to a medevac from a 25 metre fishing vessel approximately 8 miles south of Linney Head. The casualty had a suspected broken arm and the fishing vessel was making their way towards Milford Haven and the lifeboat was tasked to intercept and evacuate. The lifeboat rendezvoused with the fishing vessel in the east channel and the casualty was immediately transferred. When berthed at the Mackerel Stage, the casualty was handed over to the fishing vessel’s agent and taken to hospital. The lifeboat was released and returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 7 metre motor sailor, with 2 people on board, that had fouled their propeller on a mooring near Lawrenny. Also responding to this incident was police vessel M88. The lifeboat arrived on scene to find the casualty vessel stern to the wind and tide with a port list. 2 crewmembers in drysuits were transferred onto the casualty in an attempt to free the mooring but unfortunately this was unsuccessful. As there was nothing more that could be done, the casualties were transferred onto the lifeboat and they were taken to the Mackerel Stage at Milford as that is where they were based. The lifeboat was then released and returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 25 metre, 207 ton fishing vessel with 4 people on board that had complete engine failure in a position approx. 8 miles SSW of St Ann’s Head. Once on scene, a tow was rigged and a course was set for Milford Docks. On arrival at Milford, the fishing vessel was placed on a tug mooring in East Angle Bay as there was insufficient water to allow entry into the Docks. The lifeboat was then released and returned to station.

The ALB launched to a possible despondent male on the Cleddau Bridge, Neyland. Whilst arriving on scene, it was reported that the male had been located safe and well in Milford Haven by Police officers. With no assistance required, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

The ALB was paged following concerns from a member of the public that a yacht was in potential difficulty off Rudders Boatyard, Burton. Whilst the crew were mustering, the coastguard asked us to standby as the yacht had appeared to be making headway. Once it was confirmed that the yacht was now making good progress, the ALB was stood down.

The ALB launched after a car was reported to be in the water in Castle pill, Milford haven. The lifeboat arrived on scene and due to the height of the tide, the Y Boat was launched to go and investigate. The car was located and working alongside the Fire and Rescue, it was confirmed that no persons were present. As the car was now visible due to the tide dropping, the Y Boat was recovered and the lifeboat returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 13.4m Ketch, with 2 crew on board, that had a fouled propeller off St Ann’s Head. The lifeboat arrived on scene and after confirming all was well on board, a tow was set up and a course was set for Neyland. At Neyland, the Ketch was put alongside the pontoon at Dale Sailing as arrangements had been made for them to be lifted out of the water to free the obstruction and to check for damage. With all safe, the lifeboat returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 6 metre leisure fishing boat, with 2 people on board, that had engine failure in Broad Sound. The lifeboat arrived on scene to find police vessel MU10 standing off the casualty in case their assistance was required. A tow was rigged and the casualty was towed to Milford where they were secured alongside the Mackerel Stage. With no further assistance required, the lifeboat returned to station.

The ALB was tasked to locate and evacuate a male who had fell down a cliff near to Cosherston. The lifeboat arrived on scene and quickly located the casualty near to the disused jetty at Warrior Way with no injuries. The Y Boat was launched and went ashore to assess and transfer the casualty to awaiting Coastguard officers at East Llanion boatyard. With the casualty safe ashore, the Y Boat was recovered and the lifeboat returned to station.

June 23, 2018

The ALB launched after a “mayday” distress call was received by Milford Haven Coastguard stating that a vessel was sinking and the crew were abandoning into a liferaft approximately 6 miles off St Ann’s Head. Also tasked to assist was a rescue helicopter from St Athan. The lifeboat made best speed to the area and made several attempts to raise the casualty on VHF but with no success. Once on scene, and with nothing sighted, a radar search was being carried out with all targets being investigated. St Davids Lifeboat had also been tasked and were making their way towards Skomer Island, and several fishing vessels had offered their assistance. After approximately 4 hours searching with nothing found, it was confirmed that it was a hoax call. With this new information, all units were stood down and returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist an 11 metre yacht that had lost all power and was drifting in a position approximately 3.5 miles south of the Turbot Bank. The lifeboat arrived on scene, a tow was rigged and a course was made for Milford Docks. On arrival at Milford, the yacht was taken into the lock pits where it was placed alongside the holding pontoon. With no more assistance required, the lifeboat returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 10 metre yacht, with 3 people on board, that had engine and rigging failure in a position 6 miles SW of St Ann’s Head. The lifeboat arrived on scene and after confirming that all was ok on board, a tow was rigged and a course set for Neyland. On the arrival at Neyland, the tow was handed over to the marina’s work boat so they could berth the yacht. With no more assistance required, the lifeboat was released and returned to station

April 24, 2018

The ALB launched to a report that a vessel was on fire at Neyland. As the lifeboat was making best speed to the scene it was reported that the vessel, a 10m commercial fishing boat, was adrift. A MHPA pilot boat, Broad Haven and Dale Coastguard units, the Fire Service and Police had also been tasked. The lifeboat arrived to find the fishing vessel beneath the Cleddau Bridge and was well alight with the pilot boat using her fire-fighting equipment to extinguish the blaze. The lifeboat was tasked to carry out a shore line search, which confirmed that no one was reported missing. With the fire extinguished, the fishing vessel was taken in tow back to Neyland by the Fire Rescue boat. During the tow a small fire re ignited so the lifeboat crew used the fire pump to extinguish the fire to ensure the safety of the boat making the tow. Once the fishing boat was secured alongside in Neyland, and with everything made safe, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

The ALB launched to assist a 10.5 metre charter angling vessel, with 7 people on board, that had engine failure off Pwllcrochan Flats. The lifeboat arrived on scene to find the vessel at anchor and a local tug standing by illuminating the casualty with their searchlights. After confirming that all was well on board, the casualty recovered their anchor, and a tow was rigged. The casualty was taken to Milford Docks where they were placed alongside a pontoon in the Marina. With no other assistance required, the lifeboat was released and returned to station.

Febuary 4, 2018

The ALB launched to investigate a report of an 8 metre yacht that was drifting off Black Tar, Llangwm. On arrival the yacht was found to be hard aground on the river bank, and whilst the Y Boat was launching, a member of the public was making their way to the yacht in a small tender. The Y Boat went ashore and it was evident that the yacht had parted its mooring. The member of the public secured the yacht and arrangements were made for the owner to move over the next high water. With no other assistance required, the Y Boat was recovered and the lifeboat returned to station.
